The Indoctrination of Michael

It seems that Michael is now fully indoctrinated in to the life of the preschooler.

Friday evenings are usually our "eating out" nights. By the end of the week, no one feels like cooking or cleaning up, so we just go out somewhere. All day today, I had been telling Michael that we were going to Chuck-E-Cheese, and that we would meet Daddy.

Well, the evening was a bunch of botched communications. The boys and I were in the van driving along, and we drove past Chuck-E-Cheese. Michael got very concerned. "Meet Daddy! Meet Daddy!". Whoops. I guess I didn't explain all of it to him! We were actually meeting Daddy at my hairdresser, then Daddy would take the boys to Chuck-E-Cheese and get started, with me joining them after my hair was done.

We did the handoff-of-the-boys at the hairdresser, and Greg drove off. I got my hair done (love it!), and then drove to Chuck-E-Cheese. But I didn't see the car. I drove around again. No car. I called Greg on his cell.

"Where are you?" I asked. Of course all I got was cellphone static in response.

"Where are YOU?" Greg followed up with. "At Chuck-E-Cheese! Where are YOU?" I said.

"At Snip-Its." SNIP-ITS????? The boys were all halfway across town getting their hair cut too! Greg had forgotten our conversation about meeting up at Chuck-E-Cheese!

So I went to Snip-Its and met them there. By that time, it was too late to go to Chuck-E-Cheese. And of course by then Greg had told Michael we would go to Chuck-E-Cheese after his haircut.

We did our best to explain to Michael that we had a miscommunication, and that we would go to Chuck-E-Cheese tomorrow, when he would have more time to play.

Well let me tell you, he hasn't forgotten! I went to tuck Michael in to bed, and was going through our normal routine. I told him about how we would call Mom Mom & Pop Pop tomorrow (they just returned from a 2 week vacation). He repeated, "Call Mom Mom Pop Pop!" I said, "Yes, tomorrow. We'll do that tomorrow."

He nodded his head and said, "Cuck-ca KEESE!" Yep, my boy is not going to let me forget that tomorrow we are going to Chuck-E-Cheese!

You know a child is completely indoctrinated in to preschool life when they get that excited about Chuck-E-Cheese!

So cute. He went to bed dreaming of it. my son will go to bed asking for something, I'll say he can do it tomorrow and he wakes up with the first word out of his mouth being what it is he had wanted to do. THEY DO NOT FORGET WHAT THEY WANT. Ha ha!
