An Outing with a Potty Trained Child

Today Michael is 5 days diaper free. It was so hot here today that we didn't feel like cooking anything in the house, or standing outside to grill. So off we went to Mutts BBQ, to enjoy some ribs prepared by a poor soul who is probably paid not nearly enough to stand outside in today's heat!

This was our first dining experience with a potty trained child. For obvious reasons, we selected a casual joint.

Michael was too cute. About 6 times, he went running to the bathroom saying, "Go! Go! Go!" (Which is how we get him moving on his way to the potty at home!) The server was being so cool, cheering him on. As soon as we would get in there, and get him up on his special foldable doggie-seat, he would say, "All done." UGH. False alarm.

Until right before we were leaving. His sprint to the bathroom had much more urgency this time. And we had success! Michael's first pee-pee on a restaurant potty!

Fortunately I had a pack of his "Moon Mom Mom Stickers" in the bag, so right there in the restaurant he got his sticker. The server was great to him. It always helps when people, even strangers, help cheer him on!

So slowly we will continue to venture out. Accidents are certain to happen. But our big boy is well on his way.
