Halloween is in the Midst
I must admit, of all the holidays, I always looked forward to Halloween the least. I'm a reality-based girl, and the fantasy of dressing up in silly costumes never did it for me. I could never understand why I should want to be a clown, witch, super-hero, princess, or other such novelty.
But I guess a lot of things change when you have kids.
I still think the idea of adults in costumes at Halloween is kind of silly. (Especially since most of them these days are either violent or raunchy.) But I do enjoy the season with my boys.

So here we are, eight days from Halloween, and we've already participated in 3 Halloween activities. I took Michael trick-or-treating at a retirement home. That was great! We love having more "South Carolina grandparents"!
We all went as a family to Boo at the Zoo. That is always a really fun event, even if the animals are put inside for the night. (As an aside, what was up with the hootchie Raggedy Ann there with her husband and two boys? Seriously woman, wear the skirt long enough so we actually have to guess if you are wearing underwear!)
And we did our annual visit to the pumpkin patch at Nivens Apple Farm. You can compare Michael to last year in these pictures.

You still won't find me dressing up for Halloween, or decorating my house with all kinds of spooks and webs. But you will find me with my boys, sharing in their fun. After all, Halloween is a holiday for the kids.

I'm glad you are having Halloween fun with the kids. Funny how things can be so much more fun when we experience them with our kids!
