Random Sunday Thoughts....

Driving to Church

I saw the strangest sight as I was driving to church this morning. A man on a bicycle, riding on the shoulder of the interstate. Just peddling along as if the shoulder was made for cyclists and pedestrians. I know that Greenville has become a big cycling center in this country, but bikes on the interstate are a little much!

A Big Morning At Church!

We had a special officiant at church today! Let me see if I can get this right. The Most Reverend and Rt Honorable George Carey, Former Archbishop of Canterbury. Otherwise known as Lord Carey.

Lord Carey was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002. In this position, he served as the head of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion, including the Episcopal Church here in the United States. He was the officiant at the funeral of Princess Diana.

He is here in Greenville giving two seminars at our church -- one on Christianity and Islam, and the second on Moral Relativism. You'd expect such a world religious leader back home in DC. But in Greenville, SC? Who'd have thought? But then again, we are the largest Episcopal church in South Carolina, and one of the top 6 in the country. So perhaps it should not be that surprising.

His sermon was wonderful. And his presentation at the Rector's Forum was equally great. The man certainly knows how to keep your attention, and throw in a little laugh here and there. It really was a great morning!

Murphy's Law

Greg gave me another weekend away this weekend. (Although I shortened it so that I could meet him and the boys for church this morning.) Doesn't it just figure that after a weekend of relaxation, you get hit with a sick child and a broken dishwasher?

Despite these stresses (and a few others too), I'm grateful that I have a hubby who does so well with the boys, and who I can trust to watch the boys alone all weekend. You're the best!
