Teachers no More

Our 6-week session teaching 3 & 4 year olds at church on Wednesday nights is over. It was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work.

By far, the best part was getting to know the kids and their little personalities! And by extension, getting to know their parents as well. I will definitely miss the kiddos. But we will still see them once a month when we help teach the 3-5 year olds on Sundays.

The hardest part was getting everything prepared! It's tough to come up with new lesson plans each week, and a fun little craft. I think Lent was the hardest. Ever tried to come up with a fun craft for Lent? But I did it, and the kids seemed to love it.

Another series will start next week, but there will be new teachers. Greg and I have a lot going on right now, and it all gets a bit overwhelming at times. So we told the Director that we need to take a break this series. Maybe if things settled down in the New Year, we can teach again. But right now we have to put our focus elsewhere.

We will miss it though. Based on the comments from the parents, the kids have all really enjoyed their time with us. I know that we are leaving them all in good hands with the next set of teachers.

Good for you that you made time for this experience. Working with kids is great. You are smart to take a break when you need it too -- avoiding burn out allows you to enjoy things for so much longer. Sometimes when you love something you dive in so deep that you burn out... Enjoy your time off and the relationships you have built with the other families!
