Spring Reading Thing
I saw this on another blog and thought I'd jump in. The Spring Reading Thing. "The Spring Reading Thing provides an opportunity for all of us to set goals when it comes to our personal (or family) reading."And so here are my reading goals for the next 3 months.....
- Finish City of Heroes by Richard N. Côté. I'm about 1/5 of the way through right now. Heard about the book on Walter Edgar's Journal one Friday, and had to read it! From the publisher's website, "City of Heroes: The Great Charleston Earthquake of 1886, is a riveting, action-packed, heavily illustrated non-fiction book filled with gripping, first-hand accounts of the earthquake, drawn directly from newspapers, personal diaries, journals, and letters of the earthquake survivors. It will also follow the earthquake scientists who descended upon Charleston to discover what caused the disaster. But above all, it identifies the noble and heartwarming acts of numerous unsung heroes, black and white, inspired and led by Charleston’s extraordinary mayor, William A. Courtenay. Working together, they saved numerous lives, nursed the wounded, fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless - and enabled Charleston to make a full recovery from the massive disaster in only fourteen months!"
- Read Me, Myself, & Bob by Phil Vischer. I've wanted to read this book ever since I first heard it was coming out. This is the true story of the rise of VeggieTales and the Big Idea company, and how they wound up in bankruptcy. We watch a lot of VeggieTales in this house, and it will be interesting to read the story of Big Idea.
- Finally, I will introduce my boys to a new book a week. We have enough kids books in this house to fill a small library. It's time we get away from the ones we read over and over again (and again, and again, and again) and visit some new tales. After all, once Mommy can read the whole book without looking at the words on the pages, it's time for some variety!
Anyone else up to a Spring Reading Thing challenge?

I've seen Me Myself and Bob on a few lists. My kids love Veggie Tales, so I think this would be an interesting read.
Yay! Another Veggie lover! Great list!
I have Me, Myself, & Bob on my list too - it looks great! And I love that you'll be introducing your kids to a new book every week. That's an excellent goal. Thanks for being part of the Spring Reading Thing!
It's funny that so many have the Visher book on their lists. I had never even heard of it, but it does sound interesting.
I have started hiding books that my toddler gets "stuck" on so that we will have more variety!
I'm glad you found this! I'm going to do it too!
I think I might look into Me, Myself and Bob. I've seen it on a few lists! Happy reading!
I really want to get Me, Myself, & Bob. Once I finish the Spring Reading thing, I should be able to clear off some shelf space and make room for more books. =)
Here's a trick I do to mix up reading with the kids. Each week we get 3 books from the library. Let me change that...3 new titles. We read these over and over throughout the week. It helps to cut down on my boredom with the books at home.
