Michael's Mite Box

Michael has been very devoted to his Mite Box this Lent.

The children at church all decorated Mite Boxes the first Sunday of Lent. They were told to take them home and collect coins throughout the season. On Easter, the children will bring the Mite Boxes back to church, and the money will all be donated to a local children's charity.

Michael is always looking for coins to put in his box. He says that they are going to "God and Jesus". I think that's pretty good for a 3 1/2 year old. As a result, the box is totally full!

So now he is saying that after he turns in his Mite Box, he wants to get another Mite Box. We asked him if he wants to save coins for God and Jesus all year long, and he said yes.

It is neat to see him enjoying something about the season other than just bunnies and eggs!

Inspiring. I was just now wondering if 'mite boxes' were still around, and here is my answer; leave it to the next generation to keep the flame alive. "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God. Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall not enter into it."
