For Memorial Day

This weekend not only marks the unofficial beginning to summer, but also Memorial Day. This is a day set aside to honor those brave men and women who have given their lives through military service to our country.

Most of us will do very little, if anything, to really recognize the holiday. One friend of mine is going to adopt a solder. But most of us will enjoy the day at the pool, have a picnic, or gather with friends.

Some people are actually planning to use Memorial Day as a day of protest against the War in Iraq. Believe it or not, presidential candidate John Edwards thinks that a day meant to honor our military dead is the perfect day to have a war protest. Protest if you want. No problem. But please, not on Memorial Day.

My father sent me the following video today. Perhaps this is an example of the best thing we all can do in honor of Memorial Day. If you see a solder, say "thank you". Or perhaps follow the lead of the travellers in the clip.

And to all the brave men and women of the US Military,
THANK YOU!

Thanks for sharing the "adopt a soldier" link. My family and I have signed up too.
