Random Musings

Congratulations Michael!

Today was Michael's last day of PK3 preschool! He is now an official "rising K4" student. After picking him up at his old school, we drove down to visit his new school and meet all the teachers. (I've already been there many times, but wanted him to be familiar when he steps in to class for some summer sessions coming up.)

I am so proud of how Michael has grown this year. Several parents who teach at church have commented to us on how he has matured, and how well behaved he is.

So yeah Michael! Mommy and Daddy are so proud!

Matthew's Chin

Matthew didn't learn anything about standing on chairs from his little accident on Saturday evening. Sunday morning he was right back in the kitchen standing and jumping. We now have all the chairs bungee corded together so that he cannot climb up. What a little monkey!

He also figured out how to remove the bandage from his chin. I can't blame him though. It looks like he may be allergic to the kind he was wearing. So I picked up some new ones today.

But Matthew has definitely been a troop through all this. He hasn't slowed down one bit!

Graduation Season

I am definitely going to have to adjust my expectations when it comes to high school graduations. Back around DC, we were spoiled. Our ceremonies were all held in famous buildings downtown. Mine was at DAR Constitution Hall, just blocks from the White House.

We were spoiled with commencement speakers too. My brother had Bob Hope at his graduation. Yes, that Bob Hope. My graduation was Jack Kemp, who at the time was a presidential hopeful. My sister's was Frank Gifford. I've also sat through columnist Jack Anderson and quarterback Joe Thiesman.

But there are negatives to having famous commencement speakers in famous buildings. Those things tend to become the focus. The focus should be on the graduates.

Mommy's Night Off

With all the chaos over Matthew's trip to the ER on Saturday, I never mentioned that Greg gave me another mommy's night off on Friday. I went and stayed in a hotel to rest and recuperate from what has been a hectic few weeks. Thanks Greg!

Little did I know that I was just recharging for the events that were to come on Saturday!
