Ron Who?
In the past few weeks, signs like the one in this picture have appeared all along the highways here.
Greg and I had no idea who "Ron Paul" was, or anything about his "Revolution". I was hesitant to do a google search. With that name (and this area), I figured I would either come up with an Evangelist (no problem) or a strip club promoter (big problem!).
I mean, the way the word "love" is highlighted in red, it just had to be about religion or sex, right?
Greg commented something about how it could be a drag queen, ala RuPaul.
Turns out we were both wrong. I finally did the google search. It seems that Ron Paul is running for President in 2008. Must not be one of the front-runners since we had never heard of him.
If this guy is serious about running for President, he should rethink his signs. I mean, do you really think you're going to win when your signs conjure up images of evangelists, strip club promoters, and drag queens?
Perhaps the first thing would be to use the name Ronald Paul. That alone would be a big step in a more legitimate sounding direction.

No offense, but have you thought it may be just your perception? My mind isn't filled with those when I read that sign. Besides, it's the politics that matter.
I agree, I don't get that perception at all. Love is a fairly neutral/positive term, it doesn't have to mean Christian love or sex.
You are both exactly right. It is perception, which is subjective.
The posters Susan refers to are light on content (political or otherwise). The conjecture she discusses was our answer to a Rorschach test.
Seriously, what are people supposed to perceive in a black and white poster that says “Ron Paul Revolution,” with “evol” in red?
-Greg (Susan's husband and poster connoisseur)
Ron Paul is a Libertarian member of the House of Representatives, his district is just south of Houston.
He has some of the more typical views on things that Libertarians do--more relaxed drug laws, etc, but on other things he's very much a conservative overall.
His constituents seem to love him because he sticks to his Libertarian beliefs no matter what. He's fairly well respected around here for that.
I've seen them too and wondered what in the world they were for. Thanks for filling us in! Strange approach I think, but at least we know now.
