An Important Thomas Note
Last night, we realized that the die-cast metal Thomas trains that we had bought do not fit on the wooden railroads. They only fit on the "take along" tracks.
So suddenly I'm back at Target returning all the trains, and looking for ones that would fit. Of course Target only sells the die-cast metal ones.
Off to Toys R Us. Oh my gosh! The wooden ones cost twice as much! Up to $20 for one train! Good golly! Needless to say, I did not buy anything.
It's tempting to just switch to the "take along" tracks and save some money. But everything we've got right now is wooden tracks, and we have a lot of them. I'm just not going to ditch good wooden tracks for some plastic things.
I know that A.C. Moore sells Thomas stuff. So I'm looking out for those 40% off coupons that they have in the paper. If you happen to see any, please send them my way!
I guess we are just so new to the whole train thing that I just didn't know about the difference between the trains!

We went through this on Brio long ago -- we learned that not all wooden tracks work together. You'd think the makers would make this easier on us!
We've actually been very lucky with the tracks. Originally we were handed down a Brio set from my nephew. It was all authentic Brio. When we bought a generic train table at Ross, it came with generic tracks that fit fine with the Brio.
I also found that at Toys R Us, they have house-brand wooden accessories that are MUCH cheaper than the Thomas ones. We don't need many of those, but it's nice to know of a cheaper brand just in case!
