Living in the Sick House
School's back in session, and it seems all the germs have come out of hiding. There's a big bug going around here that has hit every one of us. Matthew's actually turned in to bronchitis. I'm now stuck with what seems like the never ending case of sinusitis.
Why is it that when kids are sick, they still can run around like nothing is wrong, and yet the parents feel like we've been hit by a truck?
Of course when you're sick, you have to miss stuff too. Michael missed a day of school. Fortunately Matthew didn't miss any since the worst of his hit on a non-school day, and he was promptly on antibiotics.
I missed going to see Fred Thompson speak at the Marriott down the road yesterday. That would have been so cool. In all my years living around DC, I'd never been to a presidential campaign event. And here's a guy who, like 'em or not, tells it like he sees it. I would have loved to go see him speak. Instead we were sitting in the doctor's office. I guess we still got to hear someone tell it like they see it... in this case, the doctor.
Tonight I'm going to miss going to the big Junior League General Meeting. I was really looking forward to it. My first big chance to really see how the organization as a whole operates -- not just on the Provisional level. Bummer.
Fortunately though both guys were well enough over the weekend that we were able to go to the Greenville Symphony's Lollipops Concert. It's part of a series of special concerts for kids. The boys loved it -- especially being able to play instruments at the end.
Anyway, send all your get-well vibes in our direction. And I'll be back to checking out everyone else's blogs as soon as I'm feeling better.
