Holiday Songs
I purposely titled this "Holiday Songs" and not "Christmas Carols", since really these have little to do with Christmas...
Greg was flipping through the channels on the television the other night as I was falling asleep. He hit a rerun of a Saturday Night Live holiday special. How did I know? Because I heard Adam Sandler singing his "Hanukkah Song".
It kind of startled me. Although I've heard that song a zillion times, I haven't heard it in at least... well... two years. I've never heard it played on any of the radio stations since we moved here to South Carolina.
As I thought about it, I also haven't heard "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" since we moved here either. Another prominent showing in the holiday hit parade back north.
It's not that I am not listening to the radio. All I've been listening to lately are the two radio stations here that go all-Christmas as soon as Thanksgiving is done.
Here, the songs are much more Christmas-related. There is no shortage of songs honoring the birth of Jesus. Hey, we even have "Christmas in Dixie".
But no "Hanukkah Song" or "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer". I don't mind hearing those once in a [great] while. But it sure is nice not to have to listen to them multiple times a day!
ETA: Greg pointed out the other day that another we have not heard is "Jingle Dogs". Although that one I think the boys would get a kick out of! Woof woof!
