Meeting With the School System
Wednesday we had our "special education review" with the school system. To date, Michael has received speech therapy, but now with his diagnosis, he will be re-evaluated for more services. Especially since he will enter kindergarten in August.
When we started the meeting, they told me that he would receive hearing, vision, and speech evaluations.
By the time we left, they were also in agreement that he would receive social/behavioral evaluations, an occupational therapy evaluation, and that two different people would go to his current preschool and observe him in his natural school environment.
I feel like we went from almost nothing to getting EVERYTHING!
Of course this is just the first step. But I think it is a good first step. For anyone else... it helps to have a lot of documentation. They were impressed by my 4" binder FULL of everything about Michael!
