Movies!

We don't take the boys to the movies much. The big, dark room and loud volume are too much for Michael.

Last year, we saw that Jonah - A VeggieTales Movie was showing at the Free Family Film Fest at the local cinema. That was his favorite movie at the time, and we just HAD to go! I tried taking him the first day with no luck. The second day Greg joined us, and with the help of a giant slushie, we got Michael in to the theater. We had to go in and out with him a bit, but at least we did our best. And so did Michael.

Another summer is upon us, and another Free Family Film Fest. Another VeggieTales was showing -- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. We wanted to try again.

Greg arranged a long lunch from work and joined us. Matthew went right in to the theater with me, Michael again wanted no part of it.

And the concession stand had not fired up the slushie machine yet. Oh no!

But thanks to a large popcorn, a large sprite, and especially a $4 Haagan Daaz ice cream bar, Michael was finally convinced to come on in.

Guess what? Both boys stayed in the theater the whole time! We didn't have to take either of them out at all! Matthew walked back and forth the couple seats between me and Greg a few times, but that was it!

The guys enjoyed the movies. Michael said he liked it, "except for the scary parts". Matthew seemed to convey the same feeling, as he hid his face on me when the "rock monsters" showed up!

A fun day!
