Our Speedometer
Okay, tell the truth. On occasion you've exceeded the speed limit. Well, we seem to have the perfect cure for all the little lawbreakers out there!
We have the best speedometer around!
It's called MICHAEL!
I'm mentioned before that Michael likes numbers. I mean he REALLY likes numbers. Eventually he started asking questions about those number signs along the highway. You know the ones... SPEED LIMIT 55.
Now whenever we are in the car, Michael always asks what the speed limit is. He looks for the signs.
"Mommy! The speed limit is 55! How fast are you going?"
"Daddy! The speed limit is 60! How fast are you going?"
Well, we just don't believe in outright lying to our kids, so we have to give him an honest answer.
"I'm going 57 right now", I'll say.
To which Michael responds loudly, "Mommy! You have to slow down to 55! You are going too fast!"
Don't think this just happens once in a while. It happens all the time when we're on the road -- whether it is on the highway, around town, or in our neighborhood.
I guess the good news is that part of the reason for speed limits is to maximize fuel efficiency. And we could all benefit from that these days!
