The Big Party!
Saturday was Michael's big birthday party! Months ago, he said he wanted a party at home, and we all decided we would do sprinkler-play in the backyard.
Of course then our region went in to "extreme drought status", and we worried that by his party, we would be under mandatory water restrictions. Which would mean no sprinkler party. Thankfully with enough rain, and enough conservation, we still do not have mandatory water restrictions.
Then Tropical Storm Fay developed, and it looked like the story would be heading this way over the weekend. Although kids certainly would get wet at a sprinkler party, playing in a tropical storm just wouldn't be fun. Thankfully again, Fay zig-zagged all over Florida and the Gulf Coast, leaving us dry for the party!
In fact it turned out to be a beautiful day!
Michael requested a Jonah VeggieTales birthday cake. Of course that movie came out before he was even born, so there was just no finding one at the local bakery! So I ordered up a pirate cake, and added my own Jonah characters! Here is the finished result...
The party was just great. Lots of friends from church and preschool, and even a new friend from kindergarten! Michael had so much fun that he stayed in the pools playing for an hour after his friends left.
Finally, here is a picture of Michael with all his friends!
