Why We Don't Have Video Games

I've never been a fan of video games. I don't plan on buying a Wii or an XBOX or a PS-whatever-it-is. I just think there are much more productive things that a kid can be doing.

But I slightly gave in when I saw a Learning Company MATH software program on clearance at Target. With as much as Michael LOVES numbers, I thought it might be worth trying.

HA.

He played it for the first time on Tuesday while I was doing some chores. I totally forgot about it, and when I went back in to the kitchen a while later, there he was totally fixed on the math games. (Which really are just counting games, and SO far below his abilities.)

We turned it off. Yet later he came back begging to play again. Over and over again. We've tried giving him just 5 minutes at a time, two times a day. But it's constant. He just wants the stupid game!

"I want to play my game NOW!", he screams!

Crack, this stuff is. I tell you, CRACK!

I need to remember to Just Say No!

Well, at least you know you have a great motivator when he doesn't want to do something that you need him to do!!

We are in the same boat here! Computer time is like crack too! I don't allow video games (xbox, wii) because I would be the one staring at the screen. Hello, solitaire is a danger to me! My kids are the same... so we must just say NO.

I'm with you Susan.

Baby Bliss got a laptop from her dad for Christmas and she's allowed to play games on Neopets.

That's as close as she'll get to gaming around here. LOL
