The Rain Dance

Finally the sun has come out! Like most of the East Coast, we've been inundated with rain lately. For several days, it just seemed to rain and rain -- with torrential downpours at times. Several roads were closed because of creeks out of their banks. (Including one where we looked at a very nice house, but decided against it because of the creek in the backyard! Shew!) Even today we are still under a flood warning, as water from the mountains works its way down the rivers.

Of course none of this compares to the rain they are getting back home around Washington. It has been interesting to see clips on the news from where we used to live. Massive flooding. Even the Beltway had to be closed! Can you imagine the traffic nightmare?

All our rain was very ironic though. It has been very dry here, and our irrigation system has only partially been working. Only the back yard was getting watered. The front yard was getting a bit brown. Late last week, Greg finished repairing the system -- replacing a valve and a spigot. It was working great! Then the rain came.

So when in need of some rain, you can do a rain dance, wash your car, or fix your irrigation system. Whichever you choose, it seems that there will always be a deluge of rain coming soon.

P.S. Happy belated birthday to my big brother Glenn!
