A Family Dining Experience????
As a parent, you are always looking out for those "kids eat free" offers. Some restaurants offer them all the time, while others offer them on certain nights of the week.
But there is one that just doesn't make sense.
Driving down Laurens Road in Greenville, there is a big sign that says, "Kids Eat Free Every Sunday!". Of course your first thought is, Great! A bargain! Until you look at the rest of the sign...
Hooters.
Yes, Hooters is advertising Kids Eat Free Every Sunday. Now how many ways is this messed up?
To begin with, who is taking their kids to eat at Hooters anyway? Yeah, I've heard the wings are good (although I've never set foot in a Hooters, and don't plan to). But that's not what they are really selling. Their whole ploy is silicone stuffed girls in tight cropped shirts, and tight shorts that are only slightly larger than bikini bottoms.
Young girls don't need to be going there, and developing an even more warped complex about what attractive girls are "supposed" to look like. Young boys don't need to be going there, and getting any more boosts to their newly developing testosterone levels. Aren't these all things that as a society we are trying to work against? Aren't we trying to teach young girls that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and that it is what is on the inside that really counts? Aren't we trying to teach young boys to control the urges brought on by testosterone until they are married, or at least in a committed relationship?
Then to add to it, the Kids Eat Free day is on a Sunday! Most people around here go to church on Sunday. Could you imagine walking out of church as a family, discussing where you'd like to go eat, and someone saying "How about Hooters? Kids eat free today!"
No thanks. I'd rather pay my money and take my family to a kid-oriented place like Chuck-E-Cheese. That's where kids belong. Not at Hooters.
