Vacation Day 1, August 9
We started off on our vacation today. Hopped in the car and headed to Pipestem Resort State Park in West Virginia. It's about halfway between South Carolina and Maryland, so it makes a nice stopping point for a few days.
Michael did great on the ride! No accidents! We stopped several times, and he did a great job using the potties. We're so proud of him!
Pipestem is a beautiful park. It sits on the edge of a gorge. The facilities are a step above those at Cacapon (near Berkeley Springs), which is where we used to go. However, the park is so spread out that you have to drive to get just about anywhere. Cacapon is definitely more convenient in that manner. But this location has the convenience now!
Michael went on a pony ride. Loved it! Except when he walked over to the back of the horse, and got swatted by the horse's tail! You should have seen him jump! But then he got on and got a very nice ride on Dennis the horse. He has also enjoyed the playgrounds here. And seeing the deer. There are deer all over. That is something we don't see much of around home in SC.
Matthew is just chilling out and enjoying exploring the room. The first thing he did was climb in to the cubby below the nightstand. I'll have pictures of that on the website later. He wanted to keep going forward, but didn't quite get that he couldn't. So he started banging his head on the back of the nightstand. Silly boy! He's dying to explore the bathroom, but for obvious reasons we're keeping that door closed!
