Vacation Day 1: December 16

Our vacation started out with a bang. Or more precisely, a thump.

Friday night, Michael had a terrible time trying to get to sleep. So rather than fuss all night, Greg went in to the guest room (to get a good night sleep) and Michael joined me in our room. Then around 1:45 a.m., THUMP! He fell out of bed.

Well that would startle anyone. And this was the first time he has ever fallen out of a bed. So he was crying. And crying. And hysterical. But uninjured.

We had planned on leaving around 4 a.m. to get some driving done while the boys slept. Since Michael seemed unready to go back to sleep, we started get ready right away. We were on the road at 3 a.m.

The ride down was unenventful. I-95 through South Carolina, Georgia, and most of Florida is really not a bad road. I guess it gets its bad reputation from the Northeast corridor.

We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 p.m. Unfortunately we could not check in yet, so we found a nearby Chick-Fil-A with a play area. Lunch and fun all rolled in to one! Finally around 2:30 p.m., our room was ready.

After getting settled in to the room, we drove over to Downtown Disney, the big shopping and entertainment center of Disney World. We just kind of wandered around, stretching our legs after the long trip. And we just grabbed sandwiches for dinner before heading home for bed.

Of course the boys were not ready to go to bed... it took a while to get them to sleep. But finally they were out, and we got some much needed rest.
