Our New Year's in Paris!
We celebrated New Year's in Paris! Wow! What an amazing day! Here are the details....
We woke up to a fine French breakfast. The French really know how to do it right![1]
Later, we took a nice stroll and enjoyed the sites of the fine city of Paris! The Eiffel Tour! Sacre Coeur! The Arc de Triomphe! What a beautiful city![2]
Then it was time for dinner. You know Paris is well-known for it's fine dining! We started off with some yummy French appetizers.[3] Then it was on to dinner. We were seated within view of the great Notre Dame! Could there be a more beautiful view at dinner?[4] All the twinkling lights from the Champs-Elysees![5] I even had my own bottle of fine French bubbly![6] Dinner was delicious, and capped of with a delectable French pastry.[7]
Then it was time to watch the New Year at the Eiffel Tour. What a magnificent site, all lit up at night! When the New Year arrives, all the lights on the Eiffel Tour start blinking and cycling through! It was beautiful![8] Ahh, midnight in Paris.[9]
And then the fireworks! Boom! Crack! Splashes of colors in the sky! What a celebration![10]
Then it was off to bed for everyone. The boys had a great time. They even had their first taste of the traditional midnight toast.[11]
And so now it is 2007! Wishing everyone good health and happiness in the New Year!
[1] I made French toast on the stove for breakfast, accompanied by peach sauce and coffee!
[2] We walked through our house looking at pictures on the walls of these great monuments of Paris!
[3] Chips and French onion dip.
[4] We set up a picture of Notre Dame on the table.
[5] The Christmas lights on our house.
[6] Perrier!
[7] Some chocolate filled horn thing from Publix.
[8] We were able to view it thanks to a webcam in Paris!
[9] Midnight in Paris = 6:00 p.m. in South Carolina!
[10] Thanks to the lack of fireworks laws in South Carolina, it is nearly impossible to sleep on New Year's Eve. UGH.
[11] Sparkling grape juice. Non-alcoholic. What, do you think we're nuts?

What an adorable story! I love it. Since I'm an early to bed, early to riser, I love this solution for New Year's Eve. Next year, I think I'll do something similar.....although my ties are to England rather than Paris, so it'll be a little different.....
