Breaking News?
By now you've heard that Anna Nicole Smith died yesterday. How could you miss it? It was non-stop news on all the news channels yesterday. (I can't speak for today, because I've tuned out.) It is the top news story on all the news websites today.
I clicked on cnn.com to see in bright yellow, "Breaking News! Large volumes of prescription drugs found in the hotel room of Anna Nicole Smith." And just now in bright red, "Breaking News! A Los Angeles judge orders the body of Anna Nicole Smith to be preserved pending a February 20 hearing on the paternity dispute surrounding her five-month-old daughter, lawyer says."
Who cares? Why is this "breaking news"? Isn't there anything else going on in the world today that is more important than an apparently drug-addicted, washed-up pinup model and stripper, who couldn't seem to figure out the paternity of her young daughter?
Let's see what else we could be talking about...
Iraq.
Iran.
The Libby trial.
88 inches of snow in some areas of New York.
Clashes in Jerusalem holy site.
Nancy Pelosi and the free government flights.
The 2008 elections.
Anything?!?!?!?!
I don't think I'll argue today when my son who is home with a cold wants to watch the same DVD over and over again. It certainly beats the non-stop non-news coverage of the day!
