Cousins Are Great!

This morning we were all sad to see Cousins Linda and Bethany head back to Maryland. But we had such a wonderful 4 days visiting with them! It seemed that no one wanted the visit to come to an end.

Michael even bestowed an honor on his cousins that he has yet to bestow on anyone other than Mommy, Daddy, Matthew, Mom Mom, and Pop Pop. He wanted Cousin Linda to open the garage door and Bethany to close the garage door! Michael loves being the one to control the garage door, so offering for them to do it is quite an honor from this 3 1/2 year old!

Bethany will be 6 in April, so there are almost 2 years between she and Michael. And of course the gender difference. But they played the whole time like best little buds. Matthew joined in as he could, but at only 13 1/2 months, it was hard to keep up.

Greg and I also discussed how neat it is that, at least until the kids outgrow the novelty of each other, that Michael has a cousin-friend so close to his own age. His nephews are great with him, and I really do mean great. But they are now about 7 and 11, so naturally they would only want to play with a 3 1/2 year old for so long. Totally normal, and we are just so grateful that they show the interest in him that they do! (And Matthew too!)

I also think that it is wonderful how I've become close to Linda. There is an age difference between us, and we were also at different life phases at different times. It was not until I moved 500 miles away that we became close. It's wonderful! I love having reconnected with my cousin, and also having made a new friend!

Michael and Bethany capped the visit off last night with a bang. Visit the link below for a video clip of their bang-up-good-time!
