First Visit to Preschool!

This morning, I got to visit Michael's preschool for the first time. Since he just had a birthday, I took in his special birthday snack to share with the class. (They don't do birthday parties, but they do invite parents to bring in something special for snacktime.) So I took in mini blueberry muffins and bananas to be sliced. (Figuring kids really don't need cake and icing at 10 a.m.!)

The kids were so cute! They were all sitting in their little chairs and their tables, tummy to the table, with their little cups of apple juice. The teachers went around to each child and asked them if they wanted muffin. If they children did not say, "yes, please" or "no, thank you", they were corrected! YES! For the bananas, they were told to raise their left had if they wanted bananas. If the wrong hand was raised, they showed them how to raise the correct arm. YES!

I love when you can incorporate learning in to something as simple as snacktime! Especially when it comes to manners. A child with good manners is definitely a step ahead of the child with none.

Michael looked so comfortable there in the room. He didn't cling to me while I was there. He did come give me a hug hello and a kiss goodbye, but other than that, he sat up at the table like he was supposed to. Good boy!

You never know when you sign your child up for school if it will be a good fit. But you get recommendations, visit the school, and make the best decision you can. From my visit today, I think we made the right decision.

Sounds like a great school. I could totally picture them sitting at the table with the yes, please and no thank you. Having manners will get them pretty far in life, especially at this age. Adults will kvell!
