Nothing Particularly Deep
Mom Mom and Pop Pop left this morning. We are all sad. Especially Michael. He keeps saying, "Mom Mom and Pop Pop come back to Michael's house!" Interestingly, Mom Mom left her wallet behind. Perhaps that was her subconscious way of making sure she would come back again very soon! Unfortunately when absolutely, positively have to get it there overnight, FedEx comes to the rescue.
In any case, it was funny how many times Mom Mom pointed out senior living communities around here. I asked her if she was trying to drop hints to dad. But dad loves his work. He is retired from the Federal Government, and now works full-time as a consultant for a defense contractor. He regularly gets to fly all over the world. This is just not the area for defense contractors though. And dad will probably work until the day he dies. (Dad has the strongest work ethic of anyone I know. Greg says he wants to be like him, and I hope that he is around a long time so that our boys can learn from him too.)
I did catch dad making an interesting statement though. "I'd rather retire here than to Florida!" Okay, so at least we know we're ahead of Florida! Dad hates the beach, and I think that much shoreline would make him claustrophobic. Besides, a snowbird he is not.
On to other topics...
It's interesting to see how different people stumble across your blog. In the past few weeks, I've had a lot more visits from Right Pundits, Play Library, and a few blogrolls. Welcome to the new readers, and thanks for the links!
It's also pretty cool to see lots of visitors from other countries. Just in the past two months, there have been visits from Australia, Canada, Romania, Brazil, Finland, Italy, Great Britain, Pakistan, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Nepal, Brazil, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Wow!
But what is really funny is to look at what kinds of google searches bring people to the blog. Sure there are plenty of normal ones like "wiggles", "Christmas brag letters", and "real estate". But then there are some that are quite interesting!
Like, "80's Christmas sweaters". I definitely grew up in the 80's, and have had quite a few Christmas sweaters. But I hope no one is implying that my fashion sense is stuck in the 80's. Okay, maybe it is. But that sure beats the 70's!
Or, "parent teacher conference video clip". Do people really videotape parent-teacher conferences? Yikes!
And my all-time favorite, "heather's sister went to clemson from orlando got pregnant". Well! I'm not sure who Heather's sister is. But I sure do hope that things work out well for her and her baby!
A few of them make be rather proud. Especially "explaining the meaning of advent to children" and "explaining the meaning of hope to children". I hope that I was able to provide those readers some good spiritual information.
Finally, apparently my blog got linked through a post which referred to me as "annoying and sanctimonious"! Thank you! I will take that as a compliment! Because it means that I hit a nerve with someone!
In any case, welcome to all my readers, no matter how you got here! Feel free to jump in and comment any time. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Now I just have to worry if referencing a certain overnight delivery company is going to result in a bunch of people looking for information on trashy celebrities. If that's how you got here, chances are this blog is not what you were looking for!
