Bad Business
We love going to Monkey Joe's. Of all the inflatable jump-house places in town, it is definitely our favorite.
The other evening, the sky looked like rain, and we couldn't go to the pool. But we still wanted someplace to take the kids to get them worn out for bed.
I checked all the jump-house websites, and Monkey Joe's said that they were open until 8:00 pm that night.
Great! Off we went, telling the boys we were going to Monkey Joe's!
We got there at about 5:45 pm. More excitement as we walked in!
Then we saw the sign:
"Effective July 14, 2008, summer hours will end. Monkey Joe's will close at 6:00 pm."
Okay, first off, why do summer hours end on July 14th? Summer has just started! There's still more than a month before kids go back to school!
But more than that, by the date we got there, 9 days had passed from when they changed their hours. I assume that based on the wording of the sign, they knew prior to even July 14th that they were going to start closing earlier.
So why didn't they update the website?
I questioned the person at the desk about it, and he just kind of brushed me off and said, "Sorry."
"Sorry" isn't always enough for a 2 1/2 year old and an almost-5 year old who have been excitedly looking forward to their playtime.
How about, "Oh no! We really messed up!"
Or, "Our mistake. Let me give you a half-off coupon for your next visit."
Or, "We close in 15 minutes. Would the kids like to come in and play for free until then?"
Instead we were left with two very disappointed little boys, and desperately trying to find somewhere else to make it up to them.
Come on Monkey Joe's! Update your website and be a little more compassionate to your customers!

Oh, don't you hate stuff like that! You work so hard to manage everyone's expectations and then somebody else's mistake messes it up. How frustrating!
This is the kind of stuff that makes me crazy. How can people not get it that we live by what you claim on the web when it comes to hours and services? UPDATE YOUR WEBSITES PEOPLE!! Ugh. Hope all turned out well in appeasing the kids.... not an easy task at those ages!
