Fun Through The Eyes Of A Child

Michael and I just finished our first game of Candyland! What fun! Of course Mommy kept getting hit with the plumb and gumdrop cards, and that meant getting sent back and back. So Michael won! Yeah! Not that I'm competitive or anything. :-)

A week or so ago we broke out Chutes and Ladders too. These old classics are just great! Helping reinforce colors and numbers, playing together, and patience while waiting your turn. Fun!

We did wind up seeing some fireworks on July 4th. As we suspected, there were lots of driveway fireworks shows going on in the neighborhood. Plus, our house sits up on a slight hill, so we were able to see the professional shows at both a nearby restaurant (through our bedroom window) and another development (through Michael's window). Michael thought it was really neat! He would stand up on his stool to see out the windows. That was probably the first fireworks he's seen.

The simplest of things can be so much fun when you're doing them with your kids. Even a grownup can enjoy a game of Candyland. And seeing a child's excitement at their first fireworks is great. It's amazing how great it is to see these things anew through the eyes of a child.
