Myrtle Beach Day 3, Monday June 30

We had a great breakfast this morning at Dinos in North Myrtle Beach. I saw a bunch of reviews for it, saying it was the best place for breakfast. The reviews were right on. It was fantastic! Matthew ate THREE pancakes, and Michael loved his waffles and eggs. Service was great too. From the minute we entered to the minute we left, everyone remembered the boys' names.

The day looked like it was going to be a washout -- lots of clouds, and the online weather satellites looked yucky too. But amazingly after we got home from breakfast, everything cleared up!

We spent a few hours in the morning down on the beach. Michael loves playing in the waves with Daddy. Up to about his knees! Matthew won't go near the ocean. He's more like his mommy. Give me a pool and I'm fine, but the ocean? No thanks!

More time at the pool in the afternoon. We thought we might witness a fight. Yikes! The maintenance people decided that 3:30 pm was a good time to mow the grass near the pool. So they asked people to please move their chairs for about 5 minutes.

Well this one guy was having none of that. He refused to move. He started the whole "I spent XX dollars on this vacation, and if I don't want to move, I won't!" Did I mention they were sitting there drinking beers too? Figures. So the manager guy came out and asked him to move, and the guy said, "What are you going to do? Pick me up and move me? Just try it and I'll throw you in the pool!"

We left shortly thereafter, so I don't know what happened. That guy was the only jerk we've witnessed here, but boy did he make up for the lack of other jerks. The sad thing too is that he was there with his family, including young kids. What kind of example is he setting for them? I guess he shouldn't be surprised when his kids reach the teenage years and he keeps getting calls that they are in trouble.

Back to all the positive...

Our friend Heather from church/preschool is staying in the building right across from us. She and her daughter were kind enough to watch the boys this evening so Greg and I could go out alone for a graduation celebration dinner.

Heather recommended a place called Collector's Cafe. Wow! It was fantastic! The food was amazing and so was the service. I had scallop cakes, and they were to die for! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice off-the-beaten-path fine dining experience.
